- to go with Cauli & Potato.
Had to get photo quickly - it was going fast!!
Yum. I still have half a row also. I have used all the biggest, sold a few at the local WI market and now have about 15 slimmer boys left. Might roast some wrapped in bacon later in the week.
Tim, EJ both recipes please.
Not much of a recipe - Cauli in florets & 2 Leeks in 2" pieces steamed al dente, litre of heavy sauce (using veg juice & milk, Mace, Cayenne, Mustard, Sea Salt), added leftover cooked sliced Potatoes, topped with 200g Cheese processed with 4 slices Wholemeal Bread. 20+ min till crunchy.
And if anyone tells me to use the white parts of the leeks only /i] - better run!! Especially if they are bought at their huge price - given what is usable.
We too have about 15 left. - for Leek Vinaigrette on Mother's Day when we have all 17 of the family to celebrate 50 years in this home.
Froglegs, nothing to mine. If the leeks are really big I blanch them first, and I use the green also Tim, but if they are skinny leeks, then I just wrap them in lovely bacon, place in a lightly olive oiled roasting tin and gently roast until the leeks are tender and the bacon is just begining to crispen up. It is a bit of a 'suck it and see' recipe.
I have about 8 leeks left. Meal looks tasty.
Just seen that I must have been leaning a bit last night!!
'Twas meant for the quote only.
Back or streaky, Emma?
I have one large one left which I thought I,d leave so that I can see what the flower looks like . Someone told me they are quite pretty . Debs
Yotam's thing was a bit better this time, but still had trouble with crumbs not sticking.

2 things Tim
what is the leek vinaigrette?
And how lovely to celebrate 50 years in the same house and with all the family!
1. Nothing clever. I will just slice them down the middle, cut up in inches & sauté gently in Butter.
Then I shall use Delia's Vinaigrette for a change - because I like Balsamic & Sherry vinegars - & finish off with some Parmesan shavings.
2. Too true!!
Whatever I happen to have in the fridge Tim, might even be ham!
Oh, yes - ham I've done.
I'm trying to use up my last row of leeks as I need to dig over the ground to use for some spring planting. Had leek and pancetta risotto this evening - lovely.
Thanks Tim they sound tatsy
my mouths watering!
i still have leeks left-and i use all the green too-too good to waste!

Just got enough for a couple more meals. It was a disappointing crop, but was OK despite the scruffy exterior. :) :) :)
Like this? Or even a mix Kitty? I prefer Broccoli, but She prefers Cauli.
Looks lovely Tim (especially the burnt top ;) ;) ;)) but I'm not able to eat anything with cheese in/on. :( :( :(
I bet it was delicious, though
evening tim-JUST like that! ;D-i prefer broccoli-but i dont turn me nose up at a nice cauli!

ejs recipe for wrapped leeks in bacon was on my mind all day so we had that for tea-i slipped a few slivers of garlic in between the leeks and bacon for added oomph!

We tend to be proud of our monster things but, if you read Delia, you are better off with the slim ones.
