Title: The political compass
Post by: asbean on February 27, 2009, 21:33:56
Here's a fun way to while away a few minutes:

Take the test and see where your political tendencies lie.  I'm somewhere Gandhi

I have a problem here... I agree with "from each according to their potential, to each according to their need etc", I think a freemarket economy is a capitalist lie, and I will think the NHS is an out of date dream...

Have done this three times in the past and each time it shows me as a left wing liberal.  Can't seem to get the right answers to make me a Mail reader - don't know where I am going wrong ;D
The last time I did it:
Economic Left/Right: -7.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.85
25/11/08

I'm a left libertarian too, somewhere around the Gandhi and Nelson Mandela area.  That suits me fine!

-5.62 Economic Left/Right
-6.87 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian.

I don't think this thread is representative of the board in general.  Where are the middle-Englanders - are they scared do you reckon?

Maybe the most recent copy of the Daily Mail had some extra big words in it, and they're taking a little longer to work out what they're meant to hate this week...

Forgot to say.... It would appear that I'm pretty much Gandhi, perhaps a little more libertarian.

I don't think I could have got any closer to the bottom left hand corner:

Economic left/right 8.5
Social libertarian/authoritarian 7.9

I'm hardcore, I am!

Some of those questions really made me laugh, I thought they were actual Mail headlines  ;D  And according to my score I could teach Ghandi and Mandella a thing or 2 about being on the Left and collectivism - and there was I thinking I was becoming more middle of the road the older I get.......

Bearing in mind that I think benevolent despotism (and I define what's benevolent) is the best form of government, I'm not entirely sure they're asking the right questions :)
