Post by: Levi on February 25, 2009, 16:14:09

Hold on to them in the bowl for a few weeks after flowering!

Thank you Tee Gee for your quick response. Fraid these are ones which grew in the water vases, naughty I know but mostly to show my granddaughter how things grow. Did search on here but 4got your site, thanks 4 that. I did know that growing them this way was unhealthy for future use but thought it was worth putting them out rather than just composting em (against my nature). Any further advice?!

You could try potting them up into compost, but you might find you will break a lot of the roots.

Try this;

1) Put a layer of compost in the bottom of the pot.

2)Trickle some compost through your fingers to lightly  cover the roots.

Don't compact the compost this will break the roots.

3) Trickle in water at this stage this should wash the compost around and between the roots.

4) Repeat this process until the roots are covered then fill the pot to the top with compost. Don't water the final lot!

Put pot outdoors and just leave it there untill the normal time for planting out outdoor Hyacinths and transplant it/them then

Then its fingers croossed and all that!
