Mine were planted in November, been in a cold green house all winter, didn't get round to pinching them out yet. As they are quite well grown now, is it too late? Would I do more damage than good?
these are mine now, Maggie, haven't pinched them out, some died off in the -9 cold snap, they're picking up a bit so may have to pinch them out in a couple of weeks :)
I sow my seed on the 8th Oct. this is so that they can build up a good root stystem ready for planting out in early March .I do not pinch them as they break on their own. We usually pick in the 3rd week of May and last year by layering three times kept them going for my wife to do the flowers at our son's wedding 10th August.
I will be following their progress on my boog website through the year. This is one plant just to show the growth at this time, the are under a cover in severe weather.

Oooerrr...mine are certainly not as strong looking as yours, Laurie, and lots bigger than yours Mal...perhaps I should pinch out half and see what happens. Will sow some more anyway, thanks peeps.

I have answered you on your other thread Maggie. Just pinch yours out to about 3 or 4 leaves and you will get that strong shoot coming up in a couple of weeks. I only pinched mine today cos they had been grown outside since October.Left to the elements unless a frost was forecast and then only a thin fleece put over them. You will probably have to harden them off if they have been in a greenhouse even though it is cold
Aha, thanks Shirl, just what I wanted to hear. Haven't seen other thread yet.
I'll get busy this week pinching and sowing, a girl can never have too many sweet peas. ;D
