My sister is celebrating her golden wedding in August and I want to buy a present. Thinking about plants (not flowers as I am sure she will have plenty). Don't want a tree or anything that will take too long to get established. Obviously it has to have yellow or golden flowers, not a rose bush. Anyone got any good ideas. Thanks. Another idea, I suppose, is just to collect little objects that are all gold and wrap them up in gold paper. She is not too keen on chocolate and has most things that she needs.
How about Hypericum "Hidcote" (evergreen bushy shrub with loads of golden yellow flowers from early summer to autumn) or one of the Potentillas (variety of shades of yellow to choose from)? If you can be persuaded to think again about a tree, Malus "Golden Hornet" (crabapple) has fantastic golden yellow berries in autumn.
My parents have their golden wedding as well next month. We have booked a few days away for them to where they spent their honeymoon on the isle of wight but they dont know it yet!
My sisters Golden Wedding in July this year. We are giving her a garden voucher for £50 of course to go and wander about so she can say , " Ohhh, i will have that & that, & generally enjoy her visit instead of wishing she could buy that specail plant " then she can". ;D ;D 8)
