who else regularly listens to this?
I used to listen to it regularly,
Listened to it on our boat and felt very nautical. :)
Fisher ,German ,byte...................
we at the junction of 'Humber & Thames' ;D ;D
One of our favourites.
Very Englishly comforting.
Bedtime!
Time to put book down time, well after the shipping forecast.
;)
Me too. Makes me feel, comfy, secure and definitely part of an island nation.
For me, the shipping forecast is like a sort of ritual chant in a way - that's not quite what I mean - I find it reassuring but also don't really listen hard to it because I don't know what everything that's said means, and for some strange reason I don't want to.
It's just enough that it's there, and it helps the people it's supposed to help. Reminds me of my dad, and of the RNLI and the hymn For Those in Peril on the Sea.
Could not have explained it better, long live Radio 4 :)
Listened to it on my way home tonight as Tim put "very Englishly comforting"
