Title: Kesgrave Suffolk Query
Post by: gardenerpaul on February 17, 2009, 12:03:48
Kesgrave has developed a lot in the last few years but there is no current allotment provision and neighbouring parishes have all indicated there quotas are full and reserved solely for parish residents.

Kesgrave has formed a society with over 70 members aimed at persuading the Council to provide suitable land for the provision of allotments.

I am wondering whether there were allotments in the parish at some time in the past and they have now been built on in the housing boom period - does anyone have a memory of allotments in the parish??

Welcome to the site Paul... don't know the answer to the question but if you search online for old maps an interwar (1919-39) will give you the best chance of finding them...  :-\

Have you been to your local library? They should have maps and photo's in the local history section.

welcome to the site, paul. this sounds as if a trip to the pub and a conversation with some of the 'old timers' might supply some clues as to what was there in times gone by?
good luck with your quest! ;)
