thanks for all the h/b's ...
what a night last night... went for a meal with wife and kids. to a new two for one pub by me. first of all little one had the devil in him all day so he wouldnt behave.had to keep tllin him off. then after nearly an hour waiting for our food(wasent even busy!) it finaly arived wrong and cold! so after trying to get the atention of a waiter he appologised and took our meals away and promtly brought us a complimentary round of drinks. then after another 40 mins the food arived again chips a little warmer .bit more sauce on the wifes salmon but my steak was still cowin mooin!!!! now i like my red meat done medium rare. but i can tell you this steak was a step down from blue. at this point ive had enough im tired (been up lottie all day doin raised beds) and extremly hungry. so i go in serch of the cheff. to which this snotty nosed brat comes out exclaiming "im the head cheff what seems to be the problem?" well i told him! then having a row on the coplexitys of cooking steak. to wich i won.(wife is a cheff for last 15 years and got a full refund plus 10 pounds off my next dining experience. the cheeky bugger then asked me if the scampi was ok? i mean come on how can you go wrong with scampi.
well we wont be going there again.i ended up going for a chinese on the way home crispy beef very tasty mmmmmmmmm ;D
do you know when io come to think of it nearly every meal we go for as afamily or as a couple, it has all ways ended in something going wrong iether the food not being up to scatch or the whole experience being a total wash out.

does any one else find that the service in this country is just cack or is it just me?
ive been round the world (nearly) and this country just hasent got a clue unless your paying foty grand for a salmons pinkie and one slice of cucmber1

Belated wishes for your birthday Simmo.  Hope you got lots of lovely pressie's.

What rotten luck about the meal, but I must agree there is very little service in the UK.  Down to basic bad upbringing and job training these days.  I work for a firm that does promotion work in a supermarket chain.  About a 3rd seem have grasp the concept of good manners and what the word service to the customer means.  The rest have the attitude the world owes them a living, and people have got to eat so their store will allways be there.   And they don't treat their colleagues any better.  I find that often its the older members of staff that are the worst offenders, which sends out the wrong signals to the younger members of the workforce.  We do different stores all the time and I can tell within 5 minutes what my days going to be like by the way I'm spoken to when I first arrive.

half the time a simple SMILE would suffice.

We have had a few horror meals in our time. :(

Glad to say we went out twice last week for lunch to different restaurants and the food and the service were very good. ;D

Sorry to hear of your dissapointing night out, Simmo ! and after a good day at the lottie as well.
It was the stepsons 21st at the end of Jan, we offered to take him out for a meal, he said, can't we eat at home? it's always better than eating out!! (If they can cook it in 20 mins, so can you). He even helped with the washing up afterwards!!

Belated Happy Birthday Simmo and sorry you had a disappointing meal.  I find these days there are too many places that simply re-heat stuff and serve the usual tired options - it's even more disappointing when they can't even get the basics of these right!

Like Tonybloke says, often now we relish the meals in more!  Roll on the veg growing season! ;)
