Wow what great photo albums great carrots ;D and i loved your cold frames.
Thanks lucy
I like your gate. Looks good & strong.
Using the doors as cold frame covers is a good idea! ;D
A full sized Massey Ferguson rotorvator? Wish I'd had one of those when I got my plots >:(
Love the cold frame idea.

I do.
If you saw my 'gate', you'd understand.
thanks guys. I have had it for 1 year yesterday. There have been many hours spent down there. and total cost to date is about £70. (excluding seed and chucks) Not bad.
The cold frames are doors (obviously LOL) and scaffold boards. They are screwed to the boards with the hinges already on the doors. so they open FULLY and can be propped open a little. The idea being I can harden off when required in stages.
The gate was the last thing to be done I spent 2 days fencing it all in with tin and that was the last bit. Worth it I think. The only issue i have is I think I have fenced IN the rabbits as there is still some evidence.
As for the Massey Rotivator (god bless Tim) I think I was lucky to get it in the condition I got in. Reading some posts on here I think some people have it rough. I cannot comprehend just how much time it saved me. Its all done now and now I just rotivate as and when required in SMALL areas.
Thanks for the comments. Any suggestions would be welcome.

what a lovely plot! well done you !! ;)
p.s. bl**dy nice carrots ;D ;D
So does the 70quid include the Massey? :o
Looks great,love the coldframes.
Brilliant Flunky, you should be very proud of yourself. It takes some people years to achieve what you have done in a year.
No the £70 is an estimate of what i have spent on it. the biggest outlay was the wire for the chicken run. Everything else is "recycled" begged or donated.
That Massey belongs to a guy i know he is on the same plots. It is very handy. If you know him he will normally do it for you. I believe that cost me 2 pints of the black stuff. LOL. Bargain.
Lovely plot.
Hard work does pay off...love the chicken hotel ;D
I can see loads of glazed door coldframes being made this season ;D
Brill idea :)
what a great inspiration, loved the chicken house. :D
Nice plot Flunky, I must put more of my pictures onto Facebook.

Its quite odd. When I got those doors everyone took the mick out of them. Now when they come over they ask me if have any more. A few of friends down there are now going to use them too. Bloomin' handy and very easy to make.
The chicken hotel. Follows my mantrs of no hidy holes for vermin. I thought if I have everything exposed there is no reason for them to stay. Plus the hens love it. There is a roosting pole underneath and 2 inside.
Great job, what have you got planned next?

Another chicken run and hotel for table birds in the spring. Intending to cross either Rhode island red cockerell and light sussex hen (as advised here) or Indian Game thingy and wyandot hen (from HFW river cottage). Havent decided yet. This is going to take some sorting out as I have never bred chucks before. Looking foward to it as me and Mrs F will only eat true free range birds and they are costing a fortune. LOL.
Wildlife pond to be fed from overflowing waterbuts. My intention here is make a small pond to be fed from the over flow of my water buts. I dont want anything massive just a small pond for wildlfe etc. I love water and I know I will not stop with just a pond. I want it to be O'natrel.
I also have another dozen or so scaffold boards coming (hopefully at the weekend) to make the beds for the top half. I want to try and make this decorative (angles and the like).
While I am doing these. I will also be planting, planting, planting. Oh and possibly some more planting. LOL.
Most people would settle for a mantis or other small cultivator. Have you cheated and used the tractor..... ;D ;D
