Our HP PSC 2355 has recently been turning in copies of photos of far less quality than a camera photo.
Does this sound like something which happens - which I can get economically repaired?
Or should I just buy new??
Tim, either some settings have been changed on your PC relating to the printer properties or the print head is either worn out or blocked. Make sure you have enough of the correct sort of ink in the machine (refills can be very poor quality)and do a print head check/clean, your printer should have an automatic programme to do this. Best of luck :)
Thanks for that.
1. I'm low in (HP's own) black ink. But it still gives adequate b/w text copies.
2. It's sharpness that's the problem.
3. Can't see a clean-up program.
Here are a scanner's effort & a very poor camera one. Better, but not sharp - due to lighting, focus & shake etc.
somewhere in the device manager sketch should be a maintenance section? Someone will be along soon with the proper terminology!!
:)
Tim
Does the quality change when you scan and view the picture on the pc or just when you print?
If it's the scan, then try cleaning the scanners glass. It also can be the bulb inside the scanner that is getting worn out.
If it's when you print the i agree with the others about doing a print test/maintenance and checking your settings.

Thinking!!
Waiting for new cartridges.
Terrier may have the solution.
I have a very expensive (when bought) Cannon S800.
The print head suffered, (I believe corrosion) caused by replacement - non maker ink cartridges.
Saved a fortune by byeing from the States. Working great now - but for how long?
'New cartridges'? Dreaming! I needed the photos for a digi-album.
Seems to be better now. Maybe to do with ensuring the scan set at 600dpi?
