Title: Weed membrane
Post by: Justy on February 12, 2009, 21:04:49
Hi all

I have bitten the bullet this year and ripped everything out of my allotment  as the beds were rotting and it was weedy and bumpy. One of the other allotment holders is going to plough it for me and I am then planning to cover the whole lot with membrane and then cut raised beds into it.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that sells good quality, good value membrane?  There are loads of suppliers when I google but I would rather have a recommendation!

Thanks.

We use LBS Garden Warehouse for lottie-sized quantities of such things.

If you buy 2 rolls of the 1.5m (which we use) or the 2m, it works out a lot cheaper.

These people are also excellent for netting, fruit cages, and irrigation piping.

Do a little research as there are different specs  some are thicker than others and made of different materials, the one I have is woven and frays when cut but has been good(I now have a hot knife to cut it with which seals the edges)I got my membrane from our allotment society £83 for 2mx100m from a firm in Derby Cherry Tree something is all I can remember the ticket was a bit damaged  ;)
