Spent a pleasant hour or so in that lovely sunshine 8) scouring our local Church car boot sale and amongst other things found a large Readers Digest book entitled "Food From Your Garden" anyone got this? Just thumbing through it and it is the ideal book for beginners covering every minute detail and a snip at just one pound. 8)
Roy. ;D ;D ;D looking very happy.
Hi Roy,
My you did well out of the car boot sale didn't you? :D
I remember a trip to out local car boot sale last year where I managed to pick up an RHS, A-Z encycloaedia of garden plants ( hard back,3&1/2 ins thick and packed with info) brand new for only a fiver. I, like you, was well chuffed considering the small, pocket sized RHS Plants for all seasons cost me £9.99p.
The lady at the stall said the book was a gift but she wasn't 'into' gardening!! Thanks heavens for that otherwise I'd have had to spent approximately £25- £30 on it. :)
Eileen.
That was a bargain Eileen, but I can beat that as my sis-in-law gave me the RHS New Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers printed 2001 that was a gift and she said she hardly ever opened it and would be a waste unused.
Isn’t she lovely? ;D
Roy ;D
Yes she definately is and yes that beats my bargain hands down Roy. 8)
It's a fantastic book - just a little too heavy though to carry around with you!! ::)
Eileen.
I wouldn't be without my RHS Encyclopedia, but unfortunately it DID cost me about £25 :o Well done for spotting the bargains. :D
Oh I love bargins! I got both my RHS A-Z Encyclopedia and RHS Encyclopedia of Plants of Flowers as introductory books when joining a book club - for I think £2.50 each. I only had to buy four other books, at reasonable prices, and then cancelled the membership. Perhaps that's not the way they want things done but then they make the rules...
