I've got an unopened packet of Mr Fothergill's Samish F1.  The description says "Dark 'savoyed' leaves, pick as baby leaf or mature leaves".  I'm same as Saddad - I only grow leaf beet so if you want it, it's yours.  It's sow date is 2009.

I have been growing New Zealand spinach for the last couple of years. Three plants do us for the summer - it grows into a low sprawling bush [great for ground cover!] The leaves are small and thicker than normal spinach - and it doesn't go to seed. lasting the whole summer.
Agree with EJ - swiss chard is good as well. especially stir fried with garlic and ginger!!

I also have some Dominant seeds (but they're 2 years old)

Can't vouch for them because haven't yet grown any(!), but I should have some spare seeds. If you'd like some, just PM me an address.

llb - we think it tastes just like spinach, but the leaf is much smaller and thicker and it doesn't cook down the same way as the usual variety. OH doesn't like cooked spinach- says its slimey, but will eat cooked NZ spinach. The little leaves can be eaten raw - the raw leaves actually converted a lottie neighbours child into liking spinach!!
PM me and I will send you some seeds.

Barnowl, if you are doing a spinach trial could I encourage you to try Tyee in there, it rarely bolts and unlike others is pretty reliable all through the season which is unlike many.. could give you more but this is #1 for me XX Jeannine

Hi Jeannine,

Thanks for the suggestion - looks well worth a try. Done a pretty thorough search but no European supplier. Galaxy F1 looks similar but I think is probably smaller leafed.
If LBB reminds you I'll pester her for some seeds :)

Jeannine sent me a pinch of Tyee seeds last year and I can vouch for them. 8) Brilliant proper spinach which doesn't bolt. The NZ perpetual spinach - well, it's nice and a staple in my garden & wouldn't be without it,  but 'real' spinach it ain't, I reckon. So that's a smashing offer from J.
