It crossed my mind this morning when listening to the Glen Miller number "Pennsylvania 65000" that it must be the most famous telephone number, closely followed by "Whitehall 1212" (Scotland Yard). Not counting "999".

867-5309 from Tommy Tutone's 1982 song is apparently still famous the phone number is currently on sale on ebay with bids in excess of $1,000.00.
