Wonder who they'll get now?
Ray Mears?...then we could have a kill&cook programme combined ::)
I love the programme. Hope that Kate Humble continues to co-front it.
oh dear
If they're looking for an old beardie with an attitude problem, maybe Ringo Starr is free.......
Is Tony Soper still compost mentis i wonder?
i know he has his haters but i will miss him and my daughter will be sorely upset when i let her know after school today, ah well things always change :-\.
I thought...shame that the Attenborough(sp?) bloke might be a bit old to stay up nights, cos I really love his knowledge, his enthusiasm....and (sorry Mr. Oddie) his lack of ego...
PS Thifas....tell your daughter to dry her eyes...I've read that it's not that The Odd One has left the Beeb.....merely stepped down from fronting this particular programme.
Sad to see him go.

LoL ;D ;D ;D
....wondered that abt the Odd One anorl last year ::)
Anyone but Alan Titchmarsh! How about Chris Packham?
Must say I find Bill Oddie quite annoying- it was ok on the Goodies but...
Maybe they'll get Rory McGrath to do it- he's always showing off how much of a twitcher he is!

well no tears but her lip got awfully long for all of 5 minutes with pouting :-\. she want to know who's replacing him, when i said i didn't know she said they better be good. :)
wonder why he has left??...or has he had a shave ;D
I see simon king as a good replacement
Yes Simon is the obvious but he's so good out in the field.
I know a lot of people don't like Bill Oddie but I quite like his sometimes grumpy manner and his very strange sense of humour.
Well I will miss him, I always loved the Bill and Kate duo....what about me? I can do it ;D
Why has it got to be a celebrity? Anyone with good natural history knowledge should be capable of being trained up for the TV.
I like Bill Oddie but he really has turned into a 'grumpy' old man. I should think David attenborough be too expensive for this type of programme. rory Mcgrath may fill the gap though.
;)
Love Bill Oddie's garden, full of 'stuff ' -- his wife called it a ' glorified mess '
[ or similar ], but did he attract the wild life or what ?
Want the back end of our garden the same as his , even kept a newspaper photo
of it as a reminder. Remember the nesting birds were having trouble with ' prediters '
he placed an old wire hanging basket over the nest box and they were safe to breed and produce
their young, remember they were wrens.
Sometimes the compulsion to tidy the garden is great, but a Bill Oddie area will produce and encourage more than kept lawns and tidy flower beds -- A 'bit of rough ' aint a bad thing !
floss x ;D
I have quite a large area of rough. bit like steptoes yard along with long grass, rotten trees and such like. Didn't plan for it to be like this, its just an area thats never been tidied up and need a skip to do so. I am sure it will attract a lot of bugs and a haven for other kinds of wildlife.
::) ::)
Sorry, I just went off topic, must have had a senior moment but I was thinking of that mess that is a mess ::) ::)
Aw I really love bill oddy and I thought him and kate were perfect together. why have peeps got to knock things and spoil them? I vote chris packam to replace him if he's got to go
marg
It is a shame he's decided to leave but personally, I found him a little hard to watch/listen to in the last series or so. He was very loud - almost to the point of shouting at times, and was constantly interrupting Kate which annoyed me a bit but the thing that bugged me the most about him was his need to pull the one upmanship all the time. Whatever anyone had done or seen, he'd seen or had it bigger and more frequently. I think the first Springwatch without him will be a bit strange but depending on who replaces him, it will still be as good. I agree with Marg re Chris Packham, I think he's great but I also think Simon Cowell would be fantastic. No, not that Simon Cowell, this one ... (http://www.blackandwhite.info/images2/images3/small/wa.jpg) He presents Wildlife SOS (I love that too lol)
Monty Don's looking for somthing new. :-X

Sounds like the beeb will be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire if they give him the job.
No No please not Monty! I stopped watching Gardeners World cause of him!
Bill Oddy was always annoying; in fact in meant I didn;t bother to watch the last series of AW was he anoyed me too much... He has always been grumpy, it was just kept off the TV. It's not possible to do that on live TV though...
Simon King is great, but he likes to be out "in the field" so to speak I believe, and that is where he excels...
I think Chris Packham would be good...
mat
Bill's probably back on the happy pills!
Nuff said.
Jimmy Doherty would be good.
my vote (for what its worth would be)
no1 Chris Packham
no2 Jo brand
Chris Packham for me ! ::)
Some one mention Monty yes please!!
Russel Brand ? or is he still he Beeb's sin bin ?
Anyone but Nick Knowles, he'd defo make switch off, just like he's done with Wild About Your Garden
Bob Flowerdew ?
Mind you, I wouldn't mind sitting next to Kate for a few weeks. I'd teach her a thing or two about birds and bees. 8)
A very good presenter of wildlife/nature programmes on BBC2 Wales and S4C is Iolo Williams but mabe he is not famous enough for the BBC.
Kate Humble gets on my nerves, why couldnt they get rid of HER instead? They need someone quirky not just a boring presenter who knows his wildlife...... Dont know if I'll watch it without Oddie...replacement will have to be good!
Agree with the Monty Donn suggestion...... maybe
Gen in Outer Northumberland
Hi Gen and welcome to A4all,
I just wanted to say I agree with you, I much prefer Bill Oddie to Kate, and I thought she interrupted him and put him down quite a lot at the beginning of the last series of Autumnwatch and gave up watching as I thought she was so rude. I hope the new presenter will hold his/herown with her.
T.
Fantastic. I really hoped it would be either Simon Cowell (again, not he of X-Factor!) or Chris and Chris it is! ;D
Chris Packham and Martin Hughes-Games will present the new series of Springwatch and Autumnwatch, the BBC has announced.
They will join existing presenters Simon King, Kate Humble and Gordon Buchanan when Springwatch returns to BBC Two in late May.
Hughes-Games, who previously produced the show, said of the move: "It will be a real challenge swapping life behind the camera to life in front of it, but I am really looking forward to it."
Packham, who is vice-president of the RSPB, added: "To be asked to be the new presenter of Springwatch and Autumnwatch was a dream come true and I hope to make a real contribution to the team."
The move follows Bill Oddie's decision to quit the show earlier this year.
Bill Oddie is suffering from depression, perhaps that is why he came across as grumpy, it is very difficult to hide when it gets so bad.
I wish him a speedy recovery, & lots of joy in his spare time.
I think Chris Packam will do a wonderful job as presenter he is very knowledgeable indeed about wildlife.
Bill Oddie is in hospital suffering from depression, he gets it really bad every two or three years, but Springwatch usually helps him get better, so he must be bad this time,
I also wish him well and hope he gets well soon.
I do wish some posters would think before they type ::) depression isn't funny.
If anyone has to take over from Bill, I love Chris Packham,
Chris Packham AND Simon King on the same show.... Heaven :P/ shades xxx
i think this thread is billoddie stupid
for those that remember the goodies thats an old joke ;D
Pre-series interview with the hosts. I think Chris will be great and it's nice to see the chemistry between him and Kate. I'm looking forward to May 25th! :)
