Title: Replacement for yeast extract?
Post by: caroline7758 on January 28, 2009, 16:59:39
Is there anything I might have in my store cupboard which might do instead of yeast extract in a veg & bean stew?

Assuming that by yeast extract you mean Marmite, then how about a veg stock cube - they nearly always include yeast extract - plus some of the other suggestions to add some welly?

If anchovies are ok they'll dissolve and lose all their fishiness but add a good depth of flavour.
