I'm knitting a blanket at the mo. I need small amounts of deep/ bright colours.
Does anyone have any bits and pieces left over from projects that they would swap me for seeds.
If so, I have a good variety of veg and several flower seeds to swap. Let me know what you would like to swap and I'll see if I have got it.
Thanks
cj :)
pm me your address Caroline, I have a few oddments you can have. No need for swapsies ;D
Hi Caroline ;)
Everything has gone a little bonkers here over the last few days :-\, I will get some wool off to you by the end of the week........sorry about the wait hun ;)
Dont worry about it.
Hope everything is OK :-*
cj :)
Caroline, do you still want wools? And how much counts as useful in terms of 'small amounts'?
I'll see if I can reclaim some of the wool oddments I donated to Small and Tiny Triffid's collection of crafts stuff... (Tiny T got a French knitting wotsit for Christmas but seems to have forgotten it after a couple of weeks of frantic rope-making... :))
Hello triffid,
yes I will be needing loads of oddments.
I can make use of some very small amounts. Some sections I can use pieces only 2 or 3 metres long. Others need more.
Let me know what seeds you are after and I'll go on a rummage ;D
cj :)
what ya making cj?
lbb
Well, I started making 1 blanket, but have kind of got addicted.
I have joined a group who are making a square a month to make a blanket in a year. I fancy a bigger blanket though, so am thinking of making 2 squares a month.
So I am making 2 blankets at the mo.
Here is pic of my first January square. It is supposed to look like snow flakes against a blue sky ( I konw , I Know...the sky wouldnt be blue if it was snowing, but it looks pretty ::) )

Do you have any preferences, ie 3ply, 4ply, D/K, Aran. Chunky/100% wool, 100% acrylic, 100% cotton. 50/50 wool acrylic/50/50 cotton/acrylic, etc, etc.
I could certainly let you have some oddments.
Don't mean to sound like a smart-ass, but I used to buy yarns faster than I could knit/crochet them. ;D ;D
valmarg
Thanks for the offer. That would be great ;D
I am using DK .
You sound like quite a proficient knitter :o What sort of things have you made? Any pics?
I like to knit cable, but havent made anything adult size yet. I dont know if I have enough patience ::) I have made a few jumpers for my grandson, but so far never bigger than age 2-3. That has been on DK. I suppose it would come on a lot quicker in adult size using Aran.
Let me know what sort of seeds you are after. I'll have plenty of time to rummage in my collection if the promised snow arrives ;D Just a sprinkling here so far :(
cj :)
Caroline: I'll go on a wool rummage later (first priority this morning is a massive family snowball fight) ;D
PM me your address...
Woolly oddments stolen back from my magpie children and heading west to you as we speak.
Hope you haven't already finished your blanket (locating where the mini-Triffids had hidden the stuff took longer than I'd expected). ;D
Thanks. Will PM you ;D

HI
I have the remainder of a ball of pink fluffy ( but not too fluffy), wool that I bought to knit my 2 nieces little hats for christmas. I reckon there is enough for a square if you want it.
Pink is so not my colour!
I started knitting at the end of last year, am finally getting to doing something for me. Hopefully I have improved and got the messed up bits out of the way on the earlier projects!
Hello ren1, thanks for the offer, but I am not using fluffy wool.
Do you have any pics of the hats you made? I bet they are pretty ;D
What sort of things are you going to be making?
I'd like to make my own jumpers, but they always look really unprofessional when I sew them together :-\
cj :)
HI
I started with a baby cardigan and booble hat for my allotment neighbour - baby boy born in december. I was completely skint so thought I'd try knitting.
It was ok but the sewing up was a bit untidy.
Then I knitted these little hats for my nieces, will try and post a picture, they are v. cute. pattern used is here, but I winged it a bit!!

In between i was knitting a cardi for my husband's christmas present, this was finished last weekend and has a zip front that I'm not too happy with but he likes it. It has a skull & crossbones on the pocket.
Now I am trying to decide what I want for myself, am thinking about a knitted skirt but will see how I feel as I get started.
I want to knit some fingerless gloves but it looks quites tricky, & I can but a pair for £1 from the market. But like the challenge of the knitting so we shall see.
What about you?
The hats are really pretty.
I made my son the jesters hat on this link

Actually, I made 2, as he left the 1st one on a bus. I'll certainly recognise it if I see anyone wearing it!! ;D
I have made a few jumpers for my grandson. They last for ages, as they get bigger every time my daughter washes them. Is it my knitting or her washing that's the problem......... ::)

Sorry I've taken a while to answer. I've done quite a bit of knitting/crochet in my time, but only clothes - jumpers, cardies, etc. I have crocheted dresses, shawls. When my niece was born I crocheted an enormous shawl. She will be 40 next year, so it was a few years ago.
My problem is I love knitting/crocheting, but I hate sewing, so I can have several garments ready, but for the sewing. ;D ;D ???
I'll pm you regarding the yarns I have.
I'm in the midst of sorting out my seeds at the moment so I'm not sure I'll be needing any, but if you let me know what you've got we can probably come to 'an arrangement'.
valmarg
I used to crochet up the seams of the jumpers, cardis etc that I knitted (hand and machine) in a chain stich one stitch in from the edge. Leave a nice long piece of wood when you start and then you can use it for oversewiing the ribs. Don't forget to fasten off every few inches otherwise if the "stiching" gets pulled it could unravel. Its a lot easier than sewing with wool in a darning needle. Best pin and tack your pieces together before you start.
valmarg,
Does your niece still have the shawl? I think sewing up is definately the worse bit. >:(
lottie lou,
that's a clever idea ;D

Here are some of the squares I am making with the wool ;D

They are lovely Caroline ;D
Thats going to be so jazzy ;D ;D.......and warm ;)
Thanks ;D
It's not what you'd call 'subtle' 8)
cj :)
;D ;D ;D "Subtle" doesn't get the same response ;)
You would want people to come into your house and say what a lovely blanket, rather than it blend into the background ;)
Lovely job :D
Thanks Star :-*
This blanket isnt going to blend in ANYWHERE ;D
cj :)
Any chance of the pattern please?
No problem. It's here
