Title: Is this a good price?
Post by: mummybunny on January 22, 2009, 17:22:57
Hi all
i have  found a little allotment site hidden around the back of some house nicely tucked away didn't even know it was there!!!  :o

So i emailed the relative people to enquire about waiting lists and fee's. Got told all the plots were taken at that site but i would be put on the waiting list which i expected. Didn't expect to be first on the waiting list though  ;D

And this is what i got back thought it was really good myself but i am terrible with visualizing the size of the half plot!!!

A half plot, appx 170 sq yds would be £21 per year +£2 National Association fee which we all pay + 5p for a shareholder stake in the BEAA.

What do you think??

I was walking the kids to school and saw someone walking down a lane with some gardening tools first thing this morning. Me being nosey thought i would take a look on the way back from dropping them off. To my surprise i found a lovely allotment site  :o

Googled it when i got home and found this

Entrance:  Entered between 16 and 18 Salisbury Avenue
Number of plots:  12

Site description

This small level site is tucked away behind houses, and has become almost fully let from being almost derelict during the last 2 years. The site has water supply. This is a Bristol East Allotments Association site.

Thought what have i got to loose drop them a line and I'm first on the list.  ;D

I do have a couple of raised beds in the garden thought i would see how i get on with those first then being on here reading all your posts inspired me to think more about applying for one.

Have no idea how long it will be before i get offered one but I'm happy plodding along in the garden for the time being  ;D

Ideal location 10 Min's from my house could drop the kids off at school and pop straight down there on my days off. Its literally over the road and down a lane from the school. Worst thing is my parents house is the other side of the road that the allotments are behind and i lived there for 16 yrs lol without a clue!

I'm rabbiting on now just a little bit excited  ::)

Here in Rother, £21 is the cost of a half plot (125 sq metres) with water on site, so your price seems reasonable.

Excellent news, if the plot is overgrown you could allways try and get the price down, say 3 months for free as it has to be cleared.
