Thanks i had an email reminder but it hadn't clicked that it was this weekend ...thought it was next.
Same here Kea. I think that's because January is flying by. Well it is in this house.
Janet.
It's on my agenda for after Ryton... noticed four different species on the feeder while making toast! :)
No time to do this until this afternoon and then, of course, it was pouring with rain so not nearly as many birds as usual - just several varieties of tit, a chaffinch and a sparrow. Oh well, they must be in someone else's garden.
I spent the afternoon on my recliner knitting and birdwatching. I had decided to do the birdwatch in 3 hourly segments from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and to use the best one for the survey.
The results were not as good as I had hoped. All three segments produced more or less the same results with visits from sparrows, blue tits, great tits, a robin, a blackcap, a blackbird, a wood pigeon and a dunnock. I was very disappointed not to see my other regular visitors - goldfinches, greenfinches, chaffinches, a group of long-tailed tits, coal tits and, new this year, a wren.
Oh well - better luck next year!
Tricia
This year managed to get the rest of the family to join in so just 15 mins each. Much the same results as previous years but the wren didn't visit. This morning a coal tit visited we don't usually have them here.
Not as many sparrows but the blue tits were looking for the nest box that i hadn't put back after cleaning it out so I've got it back in place today.
Rats missed it OH dragged me out onto the lottie once I got back from potato day... then it was too dark!! :-X
