Title: Green Manures
Post by: Gail-M on September 02, 2004, 08:24:29
Hi everyone,

I'd like to try green manures this year on my plot - from October to March.

I need to know what types are hardy for Scotland and where do you buy it ? I've never seen it in the garden centre so where do you get it ?

Thanks,  Gail.

I'd have thought Grazing Rye and field beans would be hardy and could be sown in October -maybe phacellia and some of the others. To some extent it doesn't matter if the frost kills them off as they give you a mulch instead, assuming they've grown enough.
