Title: Potatoes.
Post by: grannyjanny on January 17, 2009, 17:22:55
Has anyone seen Ulster Scepter on their travels. I recently spoke to the farmer we buy our early potatoes from & this is the one the Cheshire type potato comes from. He confirmed what I thought, there is no such thing as a Cheshire potato. It is the soil & conditions that create the Cheshire. OH was convinced he could buy Cheshire seed potatoes & he said as we buy his spuds he has got some 4 year old cow manure that is ours for the bagging up.

I had Ulster Sceptre last year.  I ordered my seed potatoes from Thomson & Morgan and they gave a of them bag free if you spent over a certain amount.  I haven't looked at T&M this year as their customer service on seed potatoes is rubbish, but worth a look if you particularly want the variety.  US did OK for me, nothing special.  Can't help with Cheshire potatoes. sorry.
