im sure i have seen this answered somewhere but i cannot find it so i apologise for asking again. when seeds say sow early spring when do they meant
when is spring summer autumn and winter with regards to months please and why dont they mark it in months on the packet

Sow them when the weather warms up. I tend to delay outdoor planting till April or early May, whatever the packet says, and do earlier plantings under cover.

thank you Robert I start everything off indoors until the weather really changes and it goes into the plastic greenhouse i have or under cloches etc, its just that simpletons like me need it really well explained in words of one syllables  ;D

If you are sowing them directly into the soil! let the annual weeds tell you. When they(the weeds) start growing your soil is warming up.

If you are sowing under cover work back from your 'planting out dates' particularly if you are short of cold frame space!
