Oh well, better think about planning the veggie patch for this year now... back to reality again... grrr...

Fantastic phots mat ! Really made me smile.
were you in Antarctica for fun or business (or both!)?
Great photos Mat
I was there for fun on a russian expedition boat (used for tourists in the antarctic summer to pay for their scientific research later in the year!!!) I had it booked for 18 months, so in a strange way I am pleased it is over now and I can concentrate on sorting out my new garden... and how I can fit all the old allotment plans into a smaller area in my own garden... oh well, smaller space for veggies, but its mine!!!
I recommend Antarctica... if you can go, do it. I was lucky i relocated so when i sold my house "down south" I put the money aside.. okay its now back on my new mortgage, but I don't think of that!!!

Welcome back, Mat, and happy new year.
MORE PICS PLEASE !!!!
Thanks guys for all your comments and emails.
I uploaded a selection of photos to my flickr site on my return http://www.flickr.com/photos/followthestar/ There will be plenty here I think to keep you happy!!! I haven't uploaded any since as I came down with the dreaded flu a couple of days later and am only just getting up and about a bit... flipping english weather!!! Antarctica was at least dry!!!!!!!!!! Still I have 5000 photos to now trawl through over the summer in between the veggie growing and work!!!
mat
Wow, have just through all the photos and they are amazing...... :o
Thank you mat , can't tell you how much I enjoyed going through all your photos,
you must have had a wonderful time, the sharpness of your pics and the sensitive
way that you captured the moments shows how much you enjoyed being there -
If I were several years younger !!!!!
Thanks again ,

I know how you feel Mat my family and I flew to New Zealand on November 29 toured the north island then on the 12th of December we moved to the south island and toured there then on the 22nd we flew to Tasmania for Christmas with friends . This year Xmas day was spent collecting shell in the sun. We flew home on the 2nd/3rd January and Im still cold !! We share the flight home with 140 Aussie students coming to work in schools in the UK they were mostly in shorts and little vests when the pilot announced on approaching heathrow it was minus 2 all you could here was "s**t"!!
Just wonderful!!
