Title: planning permission
Post by: jayarem on January 13, 2009, 19:33:18
Help, I have an allotment in Hillingdon, Middx. I want to put up a shed. I am beside a main road, behind a six foot fence and hedge. What distance do I have to be from the centre of the road . ???

Welcome to the site Jayarem. If you are behind a fence and hedge you probably don't need any planning permission for an "Horticultural" shed... but your site committee may have byelaws. On our site you need written permission from the committee and not erect it nearer than 3' from any boundary (to allow access for painting etc). We've never turned one down but you still need to ask!

Rules about sheds and greenhouses are usually contained within your contract.  Have you checked your contract small-print?

Welcome to the site.
As others have already said, your commity will let you know what is allowed and where.

We are only allowed 6'x4' shed and have a basic form to fill in if you plan to have one and have to leave 24" between the edge of our plot and the boundry to allow access to the blackberry bushes for all members.
I have an end plot and have left about 5' as i don't want to keep trimming the bushes to stop them growing onto my plot.
