Title: Living in the 80's
Post by: Penske666 on January 11, 2009, 19:55:00
My mum has just given me a load of old seeds!

Oldest ones are Sinclair, McGill Cabbage Primo - Golden Acre packeted in 1982!  Should I keep them as an heirloom or do you think I should give them a go!!!

Are they an open packet? Might be more chance of success if so.
I'd give them a go, but have some fresher seeds ready as a back-up!

Most before 1995 will be past it, but you can try pre germination on wet tissue then you know which are viable... Grow Organics at Ryton might be interested in a list... as some will have dropped off the national lists and might be "lost varieties"...

Cheers guys, some of the packets are open but some aren't.  I'll drop that company an e-mail to see what's what before I attempt to grow them  :)
