Title: Recycling christmas cards
Post by: nilly71 on January 10, 2009, 10:07:56
Hi all
Does anyone know how long christmas cards take to break down in the soil?
I made a rootrainer this morning by folding a christmas card and it would be ideal, but it might take too long to rot down and effect the roots.

i would think if it is thourally wet when planted out it should rot down as quickly as a loo roll if not quicker. the only thing that may slow this is if it has a very shiny surface if the card is thick you may be able to peel this surface away :-\. good idea though you should take a couple pics and post in top tips :)

It's a very easy idea and the cards make long triangles, so they can be packed in close to each other without wasting space.

As soon as i've made a few and experimented i will post on the top tips.

When we recycle household waste, we are allowed to put out cards with newspapers and cardboard for recycling.
