Title: French Beans
Post by: Tin Shed on January 03, 2009, 13:22:28
Do french beans cross pollinate? I grew all my varieties in the same bed and have saved a few seeds of each variety. Is it worth growing them next year or will I end up with a varient - or should I cook them all in a nice pot of soup?

Not easily... so unless you had two varieties up the same canes they would be fine...  :)

I grow french dwarf, french runners and pole beans together in the same small plot each year and always save seed, can't say I've had any cross pollination problems. Last year I grew strawbs underneath them as ground cover and had an acceptable amount of fruit from them.
