How many of us bought stuff from Amazon for Christmas prezzies?
And how many used the A4A link to Amazon? I believe (Dan will confirm, please) that A4A make a small percentage from the sale. (Just click on "shop" at the top of the A4A page and you're in Amazon). Yesterday I made my son buy a camera this way, so I hope a few pence will trickle through to the site funds.
tis true, every Amazon purchase made through the shop gets a percentage for A4A.
Dan
Does that work for the links on the page e.g. two wests & elliott etc or just if you go thru' the shop?
Just spent best part of 100 quid on books (art books mainly, for O.H. who's taking B.A. in fine art)
Do we get discount membership, Dan? ;) ;D ;D ;D
Yup - free membership for the next year ;)
Woo-Woo!! BONUS!! thanks Dan, (you the MAN) ;)
Noted for next time. ;D ;D ;D
hi Dan
do you have any way of checking what has gone through? on or around the 6th tonybloke spent £100 and i spent £200 can you see that?
does the site get a decent amount?
lbb
dan do you get something for pre ordered stuff as long as it goes through the link?
lbb
Hi Dan,
tried to order through the link, but it keeps jumping to my personal account as soon as I put something in my shopping basket.
Also, some books "can not be purchased through this store" (in this case a book on birding in New York).
I remember reading in other posts on A4A that it was possible to purchase all items on Amazon, not just gardening books, through the link. Am I mistaken or has something changed?
Garjan
I think I ordered through the A4A link last week. Garjan,if it's like going through the Nectar site, it does go to your personal account but will still register that you've come through A4A so Dan should get something for the site. Is there any way of checking, I wonder?

thats why i was asking on the 9th. the things i ordered were not books or gardening but it didnt say i couldnt order through the link.
I tried to order through the link and it didn't have what I wanted, when I went straight on to Amazon I had a wider choice and the item I wanted was there. ??? ;D ;D ;D
If I go through the A4A link and it shows as not being available, I go back to Amazon, copy the exact title of the item and bring it back to the A4A page and paste it in. That's always worked for me.
Blimey - thanks all!
To give you all an idea of the amount ordered / money raised,
Month Ordered Raised
December GBP 11.29 GBP 0.87
January (so far) GBP 409.56 GBP 27.56
As you can see the 'publicity' from this thread has raised quite a bit (not enough to cover hosting costs, but the adverts contribute to that).
Cheers
Dan
Oh and in the shop if you click the 'powered by Amazon' logo under the search box then you will be taken to Amazon, and anything purchased in that session is recorded against Allotments4All.
Hi Dan, sorry, does this include pre orders as well?
lbb
I believe it does
Cheers Dan, because I still haven't ordered what I'm looking for and there may be a bit of a rush of purchases on here Dan what with my birthday coming up. ;D ;D ;D :-*
Bounce
Bounce again - was about to go into HMV to buy a couple of DVDs - resisted, came home and two clicks through the A4A site and they're ordered - and cheaper too.

Unfortunately not always the case I recently had to buy a new shredder (had to be DIN4 because of a contractual obligation) it was £218.89 on amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fellowes-FELLOWES-MS-460CS-SHREDDER-STAT_BB50824/dp/B0013DJWRA/ref=sr_1_1/275-4204885-4873529?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1233781281&sr=8-1) cheaper than most suppliers but only £155.25 from Green Stationery. (http://www.greenstationery.co.uk/pgProduct.htm~cx~7E77839DD37678338BD84CC5C1CEF2410DAEED425118CE070A1A8E0E8E85F89CF4D499DED5E78450DEFD6901E38B8BCEF6122DEB5F41)
BOING!!!
Bringing this up again -
If anyone is thinking of doing Christmas shopping online - by clicking on the Allotments Amazon Shop link (top right hand corner) Amazon make a donation to A4A. Every purchase, no matter how small, helps keep our site up and running smoothly, thanks to Dan.
:) :) :) :) :)
Didn't know that
DO now :)
I've been ordering on amazon through this site in the last few months and spent quite a few quid. Any updates on money raised Dan. ;D ;D ;D
