I heard on the Beeb news just now that even the fixtures & fittings are to be sold off, so not only the baskets but the shelving too? hmmm..
Moind you, in excess of 30,000 job losses?..poor people - a dreadful start to a new year for them :'(
The two branches in York closed months ago so no bargains for me. :(
We braved Nottingham this afternoon, went into the branch there, there was hardly anything left at all...it was quite eerie. As said before, even the fixtures and fittings were for sale....I pondered over what we could use the pick n'mix plastic troughs for....?!
Like Lish says my other half was in there the other day and they was selling the shelving. :o ??? :'( ;D ;D ;D
Merthyr Woolies closed today the only thing left on the shelf was Jane McDonald's CD`s
I popped to Bargoed this afternoon they are closing on Saturday I hope to get a couple of shopping baskets which would be handy during the harvest time. I bought £30.00 worth of paint for £10.00. DVD`s were £1.00 most of the best stuff already gone only a 1/4 of the shop has any stock left. It looks so sad I know what its like as 35 years ago I was made redundant at the same time of the year. Down here in the South Wales valleys there`s no work at all. The only way I could find work was to start my own business, At the moment I `m having a struggle but its only another 7 weeks when I shall retire. I cannot wait as then I`ll be able to spend a lot more time down my lottie
Our nearest branch 10 miles away closes on the 5th Jan but there is really nothing left apart from F & F and a few DVD's.
I'd supported them every now and then when I was over that way, they were a part of my childhood.
I spotted a Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beacky, Mick and Tich CD with The Legend of Zanadu and bought two of their shopping baskets to use as trugs up at the plot.
They'll be my memories...........

I remember that song on TOTP many moons ago.......leather trousers and a whip if I'm not mistaken..........! :-[
That't the one Deb ;D Do you remember Zabadak too?
;D
Was that the LP?
I lived next door to Dave a few years ago. No not hobnobbin with the stars. He ran the corner pub.
I bet the woolies staff are at a loss now. They would usually be putting out the Easter eggs now.

You're not joking. I've just been to Tesco - alongside the reduced Xmas stuff are, you guessed it, Easter eggs! Noooooooooooo!
