I planted a few sweet peas that I was kindly given in my outhouse and they are coming up well. Saved the rest to plant later. They are getting a bit spindly so all I want to know is do I cut the tops off at some stage or just let them get on with it, or do I repot them later as they are only in small pots. I really, really love sweet peas so want them to do well next year. Also I planted some Edwardian Classics from Homebase (bought for 10p) last year in a sale (normally £2.69 packet). It is Gypsophila paniculata 'Snowflake'. Thought I had no luck with this and dug up a few that looked like weeds. Still have some more outside and the stem seems wooden and it is trying to flower. It says hardy perannial, hopefully it will be Gypsophila and not a weed. I love gypsophila for flower arranging, but will leave it as for 10p have nothing to lose. Anyone else knowledge of this, will the frost kill it, it is protected by a brick wall and seems OK at present. Looked at the gypsophila in the shop in a bunch of flowers and didn't quite look the same as mine.
Hi Borlotti. I can't help with the Gyp but I pinch out Sweet Peas when they have two pairs of true leaves. This encourages more shoots and flowers.
