I was very late sowing my sweet pea seeds this year, only did it in november, but they are all coming up, in a cold greenhouse, covered with a plastic lid, so pleased as they were saved seed I'd forgotten about ;D
They dont seem to mind being sown a bit late, its nice you found them :D
Me too, Manics. Trouble is that on several occasions I've forgotten flowers or chocs for our hosts, so I've taken a few pots of Sweet Peas instead, now I'll have to plant more in the spring. ::) ;D
nice thought though, maggie ;D
someone has given up her plot, she grew some lovely sweet peas this year so I've taken some of the dried pods, going to see if I can grow them in spring :)
I'm going for everlasting sweetpeas this year.
I know we've had a couple of wet summers, but normally I have trouble with sweetpeas being mildewy and weak in hot dry summers.
ive got one that looks like its only finally dying now its snowed and weve had the prolonged frosts, its had blue flowers over xmas, looks a tatty mess but it was flowering so i let it be! i havent sown any for this yr yet, think ill be trying in spring again, did ok last yr but they didnt get very tall, oh well, the flowers still smelt lovely! good luck with all yours lou x
I have one which also lasted through the frosts, it too looked a bit bedraggled, but like yours was still flowering so I left it, a beautiful white one which I have forgotten the name of - wish I had kept the packet ! :(
