Yes thanks... get someone else to do it!! We run one each year, and I know Manics do, but we find about a dozen, of 108 members, do most, if not all, of the growing on and manning...   >:(

Hiya, shaun, sorry i haven't responded...we've had 2 plant sales, last year we made 1,000 profit, this year 1,300...it's very hard work, make sure you have real volunteers, as, if you advertise and people let you down, YOU end up doing it all, luckily, we've had 6 or 8 people helping sow, plant on and plant up hanging baskets..more on the day to help sell, you need lots of bodies on the day as we take the purchases to the car.
if you need supples, lbs garden warehouse is a good supplier but, not for your hanging baskets....cost we get them for 80p, plants 2.50, bit of feed, compost, water retaining gel and keeping them frost free (gas for the heater)...maybe 5.00 altogether, sell for 12.00 (that's a 12" basket)..we make most of our profit on these.
we start in autumn, cuttings, seeds sown..strawberry runners planted up..a I say. hard work but we have a good lagh and, as lots of our customers are elderly and disabled, they don't have far to travel ..if you want any more info, pm me and I'll help if I can  ;D

Hello Shaun.  Sorry not been on the site for a while as the "C word" gets in the way!!

I help on plant stallls for gardening clubs rather than a lottie site but we do find quite a good response from members buying or producing and selling.   One thing we have found useful is to have a good variety rather than lots of the same thing ie not all Gardeners Delight toms.  We also use additional coloured labels for pricing,  (red £1, Blue £2 etc ) that way things can be quickly reduced by moving the labels over.

Good luck with it
