Title: Carrots carrots carrots...
Post by: bananagirl on August 27, 2004, 12:42:26
So, I tried growing my own this year, just a few chucked in between the pansies and the parsley, and oh my, I never knew carrots could taste so, well, carrotty! They even taste better than the organic ones we get. It rocks! Next year, I grow more and more and more!!! ;D

My carrots in the shared garden failed :'(

I took loads of time with them as well, I do envy you popping them in with your pansies. Any tips apart form getting pansies?

Oh I am envious, I sowed approximately 8 rows of carrots to no avail.think the birds nipped the sprouting seeds away.... :'(
had all but given up and gave it one fiinal shot of growing them in modules, hurrah, I now have a row of carrots, shall be interested to see what the roots look like after being transplanted! ;D

MMMmmmm! The rows on the plot were a bit uneven but the ones in square tubs at home are all great!

Guess who was impatient and didn't remove stones?! Well, that makes for carrots with character!  ;D

I grew mine at home then transplanted them, and it makes for some weird and wonderful shaped carrots...the birdies scoffed all the ones I planted in situ.

Sadly, the ones I transplanted not only branched, have weird spirally shapes, but they've all been ravaged by carrot fly, despite me putting up a barrier.   :'(

Have come to realise gardening is just war against beasties...
