I have just read somewhere else about aspirin being used as a disease preventative for plants. Has anyone else heard of this?
Supposedly 2 tablets (soluble) in 2 gallons of water shared between a few plants is meant to be very good.
Its too late for me to start googling now, but I thought it was interesting. Will follow it up a bit more after a good nights snore :)

I read the same article and tried it on my Toms this year, all I can say is that they did better than last year, whether this was due to the aspirin or the weather, feeding and watering etc I can't say.
I sprayed the leaves and watered the plants with the solution when they were about 2 foot tall, and I only did it twice, too busy later.

it will have something to do with the salicylates found in Aspirin (made from willow bark - so you could macerate a pice of that and make your own solution) but check out Bob Flowerdew, he names a number of home brews you can make to treat plants and I think there has been a thread on this before

I've heard that as well. Also lemonade is supposed to work with cut flowers.
Wish it would work on my common cold. but then I didn't try foliar feeding.
Last time this was discussed I made a note. Apparently it boosts a plant's immune system. The 'recipe' was 1.5 soluble aspirin to 2 gallons of water with some soft soap. Spray every 3 weeks. I haven't tried it yet though.

Every year there seems to be a new one of these.
Moth balls did the rounds a while back. Planting cabbages on top of a moth ball was meant to stop root fly.
Viagra for larger tomatoes.
sugar on peas to make them sweeter.
Coffee grounds round potatoes to prevent slug damage.
It seems it is age old. My grand-dad once told fellow allotment holders that carnation milk in the water gave whiter heads to cauliflowers, he made it up of course, one of the not too bright growers took him seriously and did it. Had the whitest heads of any one on his cauliflowers too.
