Title: Blueberries - which varieties
Post by: Tyke on November 29, 2008, 21:02:12
I planted a Blueberry last January that produces only a few flowers and no fruit. It did go from a tiny stick to a metre high bush and otherwise looks very healthy. I'll put it down to the bush getting estalished for the year.

I read that you get better results if you have 2 different varieties next to each other for cross-pollination. The original one was Earliblue that fruits in July. I have stuggled to find another type that also fruits at this time. The nearest i have found it Patriot that is late July to mid-august.

Anyone know if this difference of a few weeks will make much difference?

All you need is an overlap in the flowering season for them to cross pollinate and you'll be fine.
