Yum! Sounds Yummy! ....Just don't use Dutch Licorice...Yuk!
:o is it salty or sommat Kea?
Yes very salty. The Dutch seem to like very salty things. My ex-husband's parents were Dutch, they all loved Dutch licorice.
By the way if you have high blood pressure licorice is off limits!

Too much of anything is bad it would be better to eat small amounts regularly rather than risk overdosing on it.
Glycyrrhizin (found in liquorice) can cause temporary vision problems or loss, high blood pressure, water retention, irregular heartbeats, heart attack, kidney damage, muscle weakness or muscle breakdown & abnormally low testosterone levels in men or high prolactin levels and oestrogen levels in women.

sounds like no one should eat it
Oh dear. ::) perhaps we had better scotch this one then.....
but we're all still here in this house ;D
If you look up virtually any food you will find loads of health problems it could cause but there will also be a llist of health benefits associated with the same food.
With the exception of allergic reactions it is very unlikely that any food will cause severe health problems if eaten in moderation.
Many licorice candies are made with artificial licorice flavoring these days rather than the real thing.
I try not to eat it because I like it almost as much as chocolate and I wouldn't manage eating it in moderation if I had some. High blood pressure runs in my family and I tend towards it myself, my Dad also loved licorice and I remember him being told not to eat it.
