Title: Does anyone fancy joining in on a Christmas cokkie swap.
Post by: Jeannine on November 25, 2008, 09:58:58
This came up on another thread and I offered to post it here to see if there was any interest I have never done one by post but see no reason why it can't be done.

Needs 12 people.

Each person bakes their own favourite very best cookie or slice etc.

They need to baKe 1 dozen all the same  ( could be more or less but everyone has to do the same amount)  eg 2 dozen  (2 types) might work  really well.

They would all have to be carefully packed and sent to 1 person who would repack them into 1  or 2 dozen assorted cookies and send them back to all the participants.

Each person would then receive a wonderful selection of home baked goodies.

Done in person we used to bake 12 dozen all the same and receive 12 dozen different ones back but I think this would be impractical by post, so would suggest it was done on a smaller scale as above. This makes for loads of cookies all different which is great at Christmas.

Rules..very few. No purchased cookies. Show off time so bake your very best.   Packed in suitable container for posting and stamps to post back included.

Cookies should be capable of keeping for a couple of weeks.

Something to think about anyway.

Might be a good idea to let organiser know what type you are planning to do so you can be alerted if someone else is doing the same,,after that it is secret.

Recipes should be included in the pack and you have to decide all as a group  beforehand if any ingredient is not to be incuded..nuts for eg. I do think this makes it very difficult though.

Not possible to  cater for tastes so no request to packer to include/not include certain types.

It would have to be done fairly quickly to take into consideration people going away for Christmas and of course Christmas post.

Ideas welcome.. I will leave it with you. I might able  do it if anyone is interested. Need twelve. no more or less. XX Jeannine

Hi Folks, since posting this earlier this morning things have changed  with my daughter in law (see listening post) and I am unable to organise it, however if someone else would kindly take over it is a really good way to get some different Christmas goodies.. XX Jeannine

Good grief - NO!!!!!!!!   It sounds great in theory - good idea Jeannine - but I would probably be sued for dentistry bills, hospitalisation or something.

Inspired by a visit to the 'Good Food Show' a couple of weekends ago, I attempted to make some muffins.  My daughter (who is a lovely girl - but truthful) compared them to lumps of coal. .........

At least I know that the smoke alarm works properly.
