Title: Goldfish
Post by: gordonsveg on November 23, 2008, 16:00:53
My grandaughter bought some goldfish to keep in a tank. 3 of the fish have gone white in colour, but still look o.k. Could all the fish be put out in a pond and if so when please?? :-[

I'm not an expert on goldfish, but I would wait until late spring.

What do you mean by gone white, was it a sudden change?

They seemed to gradualy go white, out of 4 fish, 1 stayed gold, 1 has a gold tail, 2 are all white(white not right).
Probably put them in the pond next spring then.
                                         Thanks.

Maybe they change colour when they get a bit older.
Or it could be a change in diet.
I know you can get special food for koi to make them more colourful.
I suppose it would work for goldfish, but may not be worth the expense.

I have several white goldfish in my pond. I bought one years ago and she seems to have had quite a few white offspring. They make a nice change from the gold coloured ones.
