Lots of folk post before and after pictures of their allotments so thought I'd do the same with my garden. It was back in April 2005 when I decided to widen the border and cover the concrete path with pots as my daughter had grown out of playing outside.

It's been a bit of trial and error, particularly with the pots on the path which is very shady from October 'til March, but I'm getting there.

I am a big fan of pots, love them. What do you think about when picking pots? I had a craze for terracota and dark browns. Wasn't keen on colours. Then I saw outside a shop,all their pots painted a plummy pink and they had matched the plants...the pansies looked absolutely fabulous (dahling ;D). So I fancy doing something like that.
I have had vine weevil probs these past couple of years >:( it is so annoying.
I find dianthus do really very well in pots and have become a bit of a collector.
This year after reading a book about "liquid gold" I had OH saving his pee and I used it diluted ten parts to one part of water and the plants in pots have loved it. Top tip that G ;D

:o I've heard of using it for the compost bin but never for plants. Are you sure it's 10 parts urine to one of water and not the other way round?

Good job you're here to keep me right G. ;) Yes ten parts water to one of urine. I am very bad at feeding plants...too lazy and can't be bothered to measure properly,can you tell??!! :) My feeding with wee hasn't been very exact tbh. As long as it's watered down has been my thinking.

I've managed to bring a very forlorn looking hebe, which pot bound looked ever so miserable, back into full bloom and lush leaved with the magic of pee. Have done nothing else so it must be wee?
All the pots with long established plants in them have done well this year.
Used it alot around the garden and everything looked better...my Nelly Moser clematis grew right up to my shed roof then continued up into the weather vane then spread outwards. Never been known.
Am going to try it again this spring...it's free and easy to get lol ;D
