........apparently he has decided to pull out of the competition now because he is worried he'll win it.... ::) ::) I think he has pulled out because he has been unable to do the dance he is supposed to be doing this Saturday. What d'ya think?

Whatever dance they had chosen for them, I'm sure Kristina would have worked out something for John to dance too.
I'm disappointed that they have been forced to withdraw. No doubt we will find out that some of the professional dancers held them to blackmail over this..."We are leaving if John stays" type of thing.
If you listen to Bruce when it comes to voting time he says..." Don't forget to vote for your favourites"...he never says,
"Vote for the best dancer"
John and Kristina have shown that no matter how much people put you down you can still keep going and do your best. If you don't keep trying, how the hell are you going to progress.
I wish John and Kristina all the best....They certainly have entertained me. :D
Do you really think they were forced to withdraw? I thought most of the other professional dancers were supporting them? ???

Didn't sound very much like Cherie Lungi's partner James Jordan was very supportive when he spoke out on Saturday. :(
I feel very cross about this whole thing, really. The way he was ridiculed and had snide remarks made to him. At the end of the day, he was asked to participate in the show and stuck by the rules. Ok, so he's no John Travolta but he did his best. The judges were very out of line the way the spoke to him and the public about his progression. They failed to understand that they only control 50% of the vote and we, the public, can do as we like! Yes it's a dancing competition but if it was STRICTLY a dancing competition, celebrities like John or Kenny or any other not quite so competent dancer would not have been invited!
.....mmmmm very true and he repeated it the other evening on the programme with Claudia Winkleman. Will still continue to watch with enthusiasm though.
I wonder if the producers were caught out with how popular John Sergeant would prove to be with the public. I'll bet they thought he'd be voted out quite early in the proceedings, but of course..............

I decided I wasn't bothered either was as every phone call was a contribution to Children in Need, but then it was pointed out on the Strictly message boards that this year the calls are not in aid of the charity. I was then grumpy that John's stomping and walking about rather than dancing was getting other contestants who were really improving thrown out.
No I'm even grumpier! JS is a political journalist with a TV career to publicise. I don't for one minute think he's a pushover & I smell the whiff of spin in an unpleasant way. I'm unlikely to watch this weekends progs & will re-engage the week after when hopefully the whole thing will have settled back to what is brill about Strictly.
Harrumph!
I'm very sad John has been forced to withdraw, the programme is about learning to dance, and that's what he has been doing, loosing 2 stones in the process.
It's very obvious most of the remaining celebrities have danced before in some shape or form, Cheri for instance didn't learn to dance as good as that in a month she has had ballet training, and some of the others went to stage school.
I could be wrong though, when I went to tap classes, my friend who I dragged along with me picked it up straight away and ended up teaching me!! :P ::)/ shades x
I do not think for one moment John was forced out, he is a much tougher
cookie than that.
I think he may be a little concerned about this weeks dance being to much for him & he still gets the vote to stay. He is extremely sensible he knows what he is doing. I rather enjoyed watching him just for the entertainment of it.
I do believe the calls are for charity because it was mentioned on strictly 2.
Strictly is an entertainment show, and for whatever reason, the public have found it entertaining to keep voting for John.
All the participants are celebrities in their own right, and their fans vote for them, it doesn't always follow that the best dancer will get the most votes.
If the BBC want to make Strictly a show about the most improved dancer then they should have the professionals dancing with members of the public who have applied to be on the show, that way they are anonymous people and they will get votes based on their dancing abilities.
To be honest, I think it's been farcical how the media have attacked John for doing what he has been contracted to do. There was even a slot on the news last night about him. He may not be the best dancer in the world (in fact he definitely isn't ::)) but if you watch his training clips he is wet through with sweat. He certainly seems to be putting the effort in, but sometimes, no matter hard you try, you just aren't going to get it.
Well, that's my two penneth.
Jo.
Hi Rosebud, I'm pretty certain there is no charity tie up with Strictly and Children in Need. It seems that after all the scandal with phone in's last year, the law has been changed & they can only collect on programmes that are directly linked, ie the Children in Need programme itself. They did a Strictly spot on that, but the normal shows are just for the BBC coffers. The calls are cheaper, but not by the amount that went to CiN in previous years.
Cheers
ITT was very interesting tonight, James Jordan will never ever get another vote if he is still in SCD next year. ;D
crocodile tears from the judges, don't these people realise, everything they have said is on tape ::)
JS made it very clear it was getting awkward behind the scenes of SCD,too many egos/ shades x
Being an incompetent dancer myself I fully support JS, the snippets I saw were very funny and good luck to someone who was prepared to do something not fully in their comfort zone.
Although I am not entirely sure a women equivalent would have got the same support - the women seem to be expected to be fit and fab. Having said that John Sargeant could be Jo Brands brother - they have a strong family resemblance.
