Title: New scam
Post by: caroline7758 on November 17, 2008, 09:43:36
Well, new to me anyway. Got an email today from "reunion.com" telling me someone called Jane Primerano wanted to contact me and asking me to say whether I know her or not. Guessed it was a scam so googled and found this:

http://consumerist.com/380751/reunioncom-will-scrape-your-address-book-then-spam-your-contacts (http://consumerist.com/380751/reunioncom-will-scrape-your-address-book-then-spam-your-contacts)

It's obviously been around a while but thought I'd mention it in case anyone else gets it.

I always delete any email if I do not know the sender, regardless of what the topic title says   ;)

That's the best way. I use IMAP mailboxes (all emails stay on the server, you can't access them off-line). My Linux system also prevents any virus from working (it doesn't recognise .exe files which most viruses are).
