Felt a bit miserable today as it is cold and no allotment. Door bell rang and it was next door, Spiros who I have known since 5 years old with a lovely bunch of flowers for me to thank me for having his key when he gets locked out. Also to say that he misses my cat (Zorba) and his mum does (she got him for me as a kitten as my dog had died), his mum used to bring Zorba take away meals of chicken and look after him when I was away. Charlie (my other cat) is still upset, but is on my lap and follows me about. We are very lucky with our neighbours (they are Greek, hence the name Zorba for the Greek cat) as have know them for over 25 years, seen the children grow up, and the two boys were quite lively/naughty when young, but now they are all grown up they are looking after me. My children used to play music too loud but we never had any complaints, the only time I got annoyed was when we were sitting in the back garden and next door put the hose on and soaked my poor old mother (over 80) but it was a mistake. We still laugh about it now, and my OH got his own back by putting the hose on and soaking her washing. She couldn't understand how it got so wet on a sunny day. We are lucky cause they have lovely barbeques, parties and Xmas dinner and if we don't join in keep inviting us.
glad he cheered you up..it's nice to get unexpected surprises ;D

What lovely neighbours. And how unusual to have the same ones for such a long time.
