sounds fa bit yuk to me we had chips egg and beans :D
Hi shaun01
i didnt see you at my table? Thats what we had as well. Was they your own eggs?
yes mate my own eggs and chips well spuds the beans came from the shop it was well good lol
we had our own eggs & tomatoes but shop bought bacon ..nearly the last of the beefsteak toms :-\ ;D
Banners and mashed pots, onions and mushrooms. I just love minty lamb chops, usually buy them from Morrisons but they haven't had many there lately. Eggs and chips and baked beans (from a tin) last night and that made a nice change. Spag. blog. tomorrow from the freezer, if I remember to get it out and don't mix it up with the other stuff in there. Must remember to label!!!!! May well be blackberries or chicken soup. Last time I offered grandchildren ice cream it was spagetti bolognese, well I am mean and use up the old ice cream cartoons.
We usually have our own tomatoes instead of beans but they all got it by the blight this year. Just going to make an apple pie. Had plenty of them this year so got them in the freezer instead of the toms.
If I had answered after Eristic, I could have, perhaps, impressed someone - but not now!
Sausage and Bean Casserole, with our own Barlotti beans and chilli!
;D
I had Sweetcorn Pie ... my own veg, just had to buy cheese.
make up some mashed potato, add finely chopped onion and grated cheese. Spread half in a baking dish, add a middle layer of sweetcorn, top with remaining mash. Sprinkle cheese, pepper and paprika on top and bake for about 20 mins until bubbly.
Made up my own 'Fennel & Smoked Salmon' soup.
Had lots of Fennel sat in the garden (looking a bit sorry for itself) and Waitrose (my nearest supermarket) had lightly smoked salmon reduced as about to go past its sell by date.
Chopped up the fennel and some celery - steamed for 15 minutes to soften.
Dissolved a veg stock cube in the steamer water and put that with an equal amount of milk in a pan. Added half the steamed veg and blended until smooth.
Add the rest of the veg (I like my soups to be both smooth but with real chunks of veg too) and then the salmon cut into large pieces. Simmer for 15 minutes and its done.
Great with some home made bread.
I might give that a go Godfreybob, Borlotti the best minted chops are in the butchers at Waltham Cross along from Woolies. :P ;D ;D ;D
I had fresh green beans, kishka(stuff cow intestines) and brisket.
So you are suddenly speaking English !!! with proper phrases no less !!
flossy I always could. But then again I never usually bother with grammar and spelling most of time.
What's Kishka please?
stuffed cow intestines
Something like a bovine haggis, then ???
asbean haggis is stomach not intestines.
As for what is in kishka
here is an ingredient list
beef fat,water, flour, carrots,onions
potatoes, spices,salt paprika,garlic powder.
homemade ???
asbean do you know shop that sells it?
of course it was homemade.
I'm sorry to sound a dimbo, but I am interested. Where does the dish originate from, and how do you cook it please?
Kishka is like Black Pudding/Blood Pudding
But no doubt someoen will be along to dispute that ;) ;D ;D ;D
Jewish Kishke is traditionally made from a kosher beef intestine stuffed with matzo meal, rendered fat (schmaltz) and spices. Blood is not used, as it is forbidden
The Eastern European Kishka is a sausage made with pig's blood and buckwheat or barley, with pig's intestines used as a casing. It is traditionally served at breakfast.
Thankyou Bean_Queen. I don't think I would like either though :-X
Bet you can buy it readymade in the Bronx! ;) Emaggie most of these things sound repulsive but taste pretty good if you can get past how you feel about it.
Last night we had spinach and lentil dhal. Tonight another good old Scottish fave food: lasagne. ;D ;D
braising steak and mushrooms, our potatoes and sweet potatoes mashed with our peas and gravy :)
We are just about to eat ragù alla Bolognese (the sauce has been cooking since this morning) with spaghetti, salad and home made rolls (NO breadmaking machine). Followed by Farmers Market vanilla and stem ginger ice cream.
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
just had pumpkin soup, all own ingredients, 'cept oil and spices! ;)
Chicken Silsila, Sag Aloo, Mushroom Rice and a Keema Naan. Now I feel fuller than my compost bin!
Baked salmon fillets, allotment-grown leeks in white sauce and allotment grown desiree potatoes, followed by apple crumble (apples from the allotment) with a dollop of creme fraiche. Went down very nicely.
Spag bol - to cheer son up, as he and his friend were mugged at knife point last night at the local train station.
Crickey TS, that's horrible. hope son and friend are ok. Good old spag bol, curer of most ills ;D
Nasty, TS, hope he's okay.
For my tea, I'm having a take away pizza as I am still struggling with the hangover from hell due to the Mrs having gone to see her mum for the weekend. With the kids. This gave me no choice other than to go a little bit tipsy.
