I am going in to hospital this morning to have a pacemaker fitted. I will be in overnight but all being well will be home sometime tomorrow.
I have put it to the back of my mind but now that it's time, I am feeling very nervous.
:(
At least I should have more energy when it is fitted and maybe I will then be able to lose some weight. :D
Hi Pauline,
Hope all goes well for you.
You will soon be home and raring to go.
Good luck. :)
Will be thinking of you Pauline, we can meet up for a jog around Wisley afterwards!

my mum in law has one fitted, every time she weeds, she thinks the bloke across the road is revving his car, it's her pacemaker, sorting her out ;D
Do hope it all went well, Pauline. Remember to log on and let us know as soon as you are feeling better.
[[[[Big hug from afar]]]]
Asbean xx

Hi Pauline. I hope the operation was successful and I wish you a speedy recovery. Thinking of you.
G x
Best wishes Pauline, hope your recovery is swift. x
I'm back home!!!
I spent all day in hospital but unfortunately the gentleman first in the queue had complications and his procedure took 2½ hours instead of 50 minutes. There was only time to do one more patient and as there was a gentleman who had a more serious condition than me, I was sent home. I am now due to go in next Wednesday and have been told I will be first on the list.
These things happen and I would rather have the pacemaker inserted by a Consultant Cardiologist who is wide awake than it being a rushed job by someone who is tired. The only problem is that I will have nervous jitters all over again. :)
Snap I'm going in next week... Thursday, after clean prep on Wednesday. :-[
Oh dear Saddad...does that mean what I think it means? The dreaded fleet? I do hope I've got it wrong. :o
Pauline, sorry they stood you up! :)
My husband is due for an operation in 3 weeks, we're convinced they'll cancel it at the last minute. It's happened with almost all of his consultations. :-\
I hope it all goes smoothly next week - and you too, Saddad.
X H
Thanks again everyone for your good wishes. I have had 6 operations in my lifetime and this is the third time I have been sent home. The first time was in 1987 at Southampton Hospital for a bladder repair, my first op and I was terrified. I got to the hospital only to be told that due to staff shortages I would have to go home. The second time in 2003, I went to Andover for a bunion op. I was prepared ready for the procedure but then told that the steralization machine had broken down. Yesterday I was actually taken down in my bed to the theatre and it was whilst I was there that they told me they couldn't do it until next week. Due to the circumstances there wasn't really anything they could do.
Saddad, I am sorry to hear that you are also going into hospital next week and I wish you all the best.
Oh Pauline and Saddad, I wish you both well for next week. Thinking of you both (((((double hugs))))) xx
A bit of a rollercoaster for you, Pauline. Good luck to you & saddad for next week then!
Good luck Pauline for next week and all the other A4A members who are waiting for ops.
On a lighter/not serious note I went to my Doctor's surgery yesterday to have a lump removed from my leg, Even made arrangements at my sisters surgery to have stitches taken out next week. Was pleased as this lump has been causing me trouble when I walk. So all seemed to be going well then as he probed I had pains shoot down my leg. Got stitched up and have now got see a surgeon at my local Hospital, my Doctor now thinks it is a growth on a nerve so probably they will have to put me out next time (hope so :))
Ouch Lorna :(
Hope it is sorted soon. :)
I got more valium & codeine from my doc yesterday for my back - thankfully he does it over the phone now! Also an appointment to see the cyrpopractor on Saturday... Currently I'm pretty much couch bound and fairly giddy!
Is there anyone on here who's fit and well?!?!
Me!
Old Bird ;D
Ollie, apart from my Sciatica, Asthma and lump on my leg I am fighting fit ;D
Seriously I feel very lucky when I look around me and see what other people are suffering.
Lorna and Ollie, I am sorry you are both poorly. Get well soon. :-* :-*
So sorry to hear about all the medical problems and delays.
Waiting is tough.
When I have to have surgery it helps me to remember that
this is definitely the century to be a part of with the comforts
of anesthesia, good surgical techniques, antibiotics and
post-surg pain medications.
I hope you all do well with your treatments and return ready to spade your
allotments.
I came out of hospital this morning and the pacemaker seems to be working successfully and there were no hitches this time. :D
I feel a little sore and some of my bones around the area are aching but not really painful. I am pleased to be home though and hopefully can catch up on some sleep this afternoon as I didn't get much last night.
It's good to be back with you all again. ;D ;D
Oooh, glad to see you back Pauline, and that is has all gone well. Have a good afternoon nap. :)

Well that's the Sigmoidoscopy out of the way... clear on visual but awaiting biopsy... not something I would wish on anyone... :-X
I was just thinking about you Saddad, glad it went ok. Not a nice thing to go through, hope the biopsy is a good result too, how long do you have to wait?
T.
Glad to hear you are both at home now recouperating. Hope you don't get kept hanging around too long for your biopsy results Saddad..........oi paulines7 stop that..........go and sit down now with your feet up and a cuppa! Take care both of you.
twinkletoes
congratulations to both of you for ignoring fear and having the procedures!
Soon we'll be able to swallow the capsule that takes movies of our entire
digestive tract and the scoping might be a thing of the past. Except if they need to biopsy I guess. Won't that be great? Probably many more folks will get earlier treatment, too.
Pauline, have a good rest now.
Pauline.............Im so pleased to hear your op went well, you will soon feel like a new woman. What a fantastic relief it must be for you. I know exactly how it must have been for you, I get bad bouts of atrial fibrillation. They wont do the pacemaker option just yet though as my 'Pill in the Pocket' approach is still working for now.
Saddad.......I dont know what a sigmoidoscopy is, but Im pleased it has gone well and that its now behind you. Wishing you the best of results from the biopsy.
Thinking of both of you x
Pauline - glad it went well & hope that you're doing some good chilling now...
saddad - I don't know what one of them is, but there are very few things with 3 or more sylables that bring happiness. Best of luck...
Good luck to you both :)
Glad its all over for you , wish you all the best. Rosebud ;D ;D ;D

Saddad...Ray ::) asks did you get a good view of your bum ? also, when he had his, he must've had his mouth open as he could see daylight ;D
crude, he is ;D
Marge, nice to see you back, glad all went well :)
