I know that you put potatoes to one side to let them sprout but I keep reading about chitting seeds
What exactly is this please and how is it done?
I thought they were just planted.
hiya, amberleaf, welcome to the site ;D
we pre-chit our parsnip seed, to make sure they're not dead.
I put the seed in damp kitchen paper, in a plastic bag, somewhere warm, inspect it every so often and plant once they're sprouted..some people use this method for beans and squash, maybe other people have other ways, hope this helped :)
I always start my beans, peas and sweet peas off on damp kitchen towel before I plant them. It's easy to see which seeds are viable that way, and you don't waste time and money sowing unviable seeds
