Not too late for spring cabbage i.e Offenham or similar. Plant seed in pots and grow in frame - packet normally says autumn sowing. When got 4 /5 leaves plant in final position. Some may say to start them off in a seedbed.

When put in final position, space the 4 inches apart and next March cut out 3 plants in a row for 'greens'. This creates a space of 16 inches between plants that you want to grow on to pick in May with large heads.

My spring cabbage was planted out 2 weeks ago.  You still have time if you can get some plug plants.
