I'm going through next years seed catalogue and I want to grow some different pumpkins and squashes from the usual. I would like some that do not grow too big, something a little different, interesting to look at and above all, tasty.
Any suggestions welcome.
Oh Jeannine is the Pumpkin Queen ;D
I have heard that squash Uchiki Kuri is good.I have bought some seeds :)
Betula is right any the Kuris are good ones
Any of the Delicata ones are smashing little winter squash.
Potimarron is a small excellent small squash, really good.
Crown Prince is another one I would suggest.
Check out Baker Creek seed, this is rareseeds.. just tap in and it will come uo. Super online catalogue with oictures and sizes.
There are hundreds of course but the above would be a good start.

I was given a Golden Nugget squash the other week, we've not eaten it yet, but it looks like a small orange halloween pumpkin, just the right size for the two of us. Any ideas on this one?

Thanks Jeannine, I knew I could count on you for advice!
I have grown Winter Festival Squash from T&M this year - very impressed. They start off as bushes, at most 3' across, towards the end of the summer they sent out arms but they were not as long and out of control as more squash I have grown before. The squash themselves are nice looking, tasty, plentiful and best of all for me just about the right size to go with a sunday roast for 3/4 people ! I think they would aslo make nice soup bowls or meals for a hungry 1.
