Title: Fruit Cages
Post by: hopalong on October 18, 2008, 19:17:22
Can anyone advise me on the best value-for-money fruit cages and where to buy them? Up to now I've just been using a Heath Robinson contraption I made myself with a few stakes and bits of netting, but I'd like something neater and more solid. I have an area about 20 ft by 10 ft to cover and I don't want to spend a fortune.

Hopalong, I made a fruit cage with Wilko's arches and netting - look in the Gallery section.

ray made ours with tannelised timber and chicken wire, pic in our gallery, page 2, cost about 120 to 140 but it's lots bigger than you need, about 15' front to back and about 25' long, plus, two of the men on our plots have bought fruit cages and the poles are really flimsy, the net's not up to much and it cost twice the price of ours  :o

Thanks.  Yours looks impressive.  I'm not sure my woodworking skills are up to it, but I might give it a go.
