Is it okay to plant two different varieties of Raspberry in adjacent rows. I would like to plant allgold and autumn bliss in two rows next to each other.

I agree with Paul but I think you would be better off doing two half rows of each variety next to each other vis.

then when the plants grow and the new growth mingles with the old the varieties will still be separated

I wouldn't grow Allgold & Bliss beside each other - they will send up suckers in each others rows & as the stems look the same you won't know which is which. It's hardly the end of the world if they get a bit mixed... Have you bought them yet? The reason I ask, is that I would grow something else instead of Bliss - to spread the harvest (Bliss & Allgold will peak at the same time). If, for example, you grow Joan J beside Allgold, you'll be able to tell which is which & also have a longer season...
I've got Autumn Bliss and Glen Clova in adjacent rows and they are coming up in each other's rows. In this case it's not a problem as AB has thorns and GC doesn't....I don't know if Allgold has thorns but if it doesn't you'd be able to tell the difference.
mmmm even more confused now ....I haven't bought them yet but maybe I should stick to just one type. I only want autumn raspberries. So I thought that planting both autumn varieties would be simplify matters with regard to pruning!

Am I right in thinking Allgold are yellow raspberries? So you would know which plants were which once the fruit appeared, and could remove the suckers when they are finished fruiting.
Would it just be easier to grow one variety so that when you are picking them a bowl full will all taste the same?
I planted Joan J last November (from recommendations on here) and I am amazed by them, just 10 canes and we have had so much fruit from them already and loads more to come. We have been picking them for weeks, so I can't help myself, I have to recommend them, in fact I am probably going to become very boring about them I am so impressed. ::)
I think Tee Gee's suggestion might work best as then it won't matter about the suckers as the same canes will be adjacent to each other if that will be a problem.
Whatever you choose, enjoy them, raspberries are my favourite fruit. :)

I made the mistake of planting everbearing raspberries and adding three more varieties that came in a bundle to the same planting area. Now I've discovered that one of those three is really super tasting (Heritage) and is Fall bearing as are the other new ones. So they have mingled together and trying to figure out which suckers belong to which will take another growing season. I think I'd plant them distinctly apart next time until they all passed the taste test.
Can I throw in a strong recommendation in here for Glen moy which has great flavour and gives you the best of both worlds...summer fruiting and autumn fruiting......I'm getting more off this than the Autumn Bliss and the fruit are 3x the size.
Though having said that i'm not quite sure how to prune it as the new stems are fruiting now and fruit again in the summer...maybe I nip of the tips of the stems that have fruited?
