But I can't see them doing that outdoors, as suggested in Autumn Sowing posts?
tim i have beans coming on 'Cosse Violette' Purple Pole Bean
also peas on purple podded peas and peas on some dwarf ones (cant remember the variety) ready now
all from sowings when we were talking about it, all outside

Good news! Maybe the clime down there is more gentle?
Ditto - Runners and French dwarf & climbers still flowering however pollination not great - only about half seem to be turning into beans.
How late in the season do you get beans under glass? Is this your first year growing them in a greenhouse?
But yours were not late sown, Barnie?
Grannie - never tried before, but I have tried early sowing with great success.
Sorry, should have given more detail. All started in root trainers.
First Runner seedlings planted out 10th May - still just producing, second lot in July producing but not abundant.
First French bean seedlings planted out in May - pretty well dead, second in mid July cropping lightly, third in mid August - flowering well but hardly cropping at all.
All started in root trainers.
While we're on beans, in relation to a discussion in the Spring, I think we got quite a few more 'beans per foot of row' from the double planted poles (9" apart) as the single planted ones (6" apart).
Update - we may not get any but it's fun.
And while here, here are the Lettuce - & the Spring Onions just coming through.
Further to the Lettuce saga - not exactly Iceberg but quite wothwhile!
I'd be delighted if I get lettuce half as beautiful as yours, Tim. Great job!
